There Was Nothing Key about Keystone XL – Except Diverting our Attention for More Dirty Profit

November 7, 2015

“The reality is that oil production continues to break record highs. The reality is that the deadly 21st century oil via rail empire – engineered by Warren Buffett (BNSF) has been deadly to dozens of people with horrific environmental consequences to life and ecosystems. The reality is that these victims, along with these facts, fall under the same category as those on the front lines: the invisible. The fact that this so-called “victory” is being cheered symbolizes the greatest lack of critical thinking – an ongoing social engineering project that continues to surpass all expectations of the oligarchs who finance it.” — Cory Morningstar, The Art of Annihilation, November 7, 2015

Reality:

“Now, under my administration, America is producing more oil today than at any time in the last eight years.  (Applause.)  That’s important to know.  Over the last three years, I’ve directed my administration to open up millions of acres for gas and oil exploration across 23 different states.  We’re opening up more than 75 percent of our potential oil resources offshore.  We’ve quadrupled the number of operating rigs to a record high.  We’ve added enough new oil and gas pipeline to encircle the Earth and then some..” — US President Barack Obama, March 22, 2012 [Source]

[Gloat like Rockefeller When Watching Trains [ Keystone XL: The Art of NGO Discourse | Part I, April 12, 2013]

“The ONLY thing that kept Barry from approving this thing was for political reasons that had nothing to do with a grassroots movement…a basic public relations move since he had nothing to gain by approving a permit of which TransCanada wouldn’t be able to utilize during his administration – period.” — Forrest Palmer, Wrong Kind of Green

Crude Production is Booming:

September 17, 2014: “U.S. crude oil imports from Canada hit a record high of nearly 3 million barrels per day in the week ended Sept. 12, U.S. Energy Information Administration data showed on Wednesday. The weekly data showed Canada, the top supplier of crude to the United States, exported 2.994 million barrels of crude to its southern neighbour. That was a 20 percent increase on the same period a year earlier. The four-week average to Sept. 12 was 2.932 million bpd. Canada has been able to ship more crude to the United States as production in the Alberta oil sands rises despite tight capacity on export pipelines, due in part to the emergence of crude-by-rail.” [Source]

November 4, 2015: “In September, the U.S. imported 101.3 million barrels of crude oil from Canada, the most this year and the second-highest level in records going back to 2010, according to data from the Census Bureau.” (that’s 3.37 million barrels per day) [Source]

Buffett’s BNSF is Booming

“A whopping 28,000 per cent increase in the amount of oil shipped by rail over the past five years is coming under the microscope following the deadly rail blast in Quebec.” — July 8, 2013 [Source]

I think the victory was pretty key for the Lakota and their water, and Wrong Kind of Green is being overly broad in saying a grassroots struggle had nothing to do with this cancellation, and that ANY celebration is a sign of inadequate thinking :

“The ONLY thing that kept Barry from approving this thing was for political reasons that had nothing to do with a grassroots movement…” — Forrest Palmer, Wrong Kind of Green

“The fact that this so-called ‘victory’ is being cheered symbolizes the greatest lack of critical thinking….” — Cory Morningstar

Being that broad invisibilizes the indigenous grassroots struggle against Keystone XL, and its connection to the fight against BNSF oil trains, which WKOG says is their focus.

“This is a tremendous victory for all the pipeline fighters who have spent several years fighting the TransCanada “black snake”, Keystone XL! The President’s decision is a clear affirmation of our struggle to defend the sacredness of Mother Earth and to protect the future generations of all our relatives, human and non-human alike. We celebrate this as a win and a powerful step to the greater goals of keeping fossil fuels in the ground and shutting down the tar sands at the source!”

The Executive Director of the Indigenous Environmental Network is Dallas’ father, Tom Goldtooth, who was just the keynote speaker at the first annual Indigenous Climate Justice Symposium at the Evergreen Longhouse on Thursday.

The Symposium was focused on stopping the BNSF oil trains through PNW indigenous territories — the same oil trains that Wrong Kind of Green says they oppose.

We could do so many things but so far we’ve done nothing substantial. How many environmentalists use paper towels to dry their hands on? We can do something powerful right now. Stop buying new things, buy used. Buy local. Conserve energy. Just doing these few things would speak volumes because it’s cutting off the blood that the monster craves. The tool is money so get off it as much as possible. We can make a new tempo. We can redesign money or discover other ways. No need to spend time on this system, that takes precious energy. We’ve spent enough time. We can work amongst each other and disengage from government and corporations as much as possible.

In Dec. World Leaders are to meet in Paris to discuss Global Warming, at issue is the amount of greenhouse gases we our emitting, and their plan of action, to Stop this Heating Up, Drought, Flooding, Sea Level Rising 220 Feet, and The Burning Up of Our Planet !

23,000 Fire Fighters, Fighting Fires in California, Washington, Oregon, and Montana 8 / 22 / 2015

For Each 1.0C. Temp Rise, Atmospheric Moisture Increases 7%

Globally we our emitting 40 – 50 Billion Toxic Tons of Carbon Dioxide a Year.

The United States emitted 6.8 Billion Toxic Tons of Carbon Dioxide in 2014

In the 1850s – 1870s parts per million of Carbon in our atmosphere was between 260 – 280.

In the 1980s, there was 350 ppm of Carbon.

    2015 – 404 ppm in Our Atmosphere.

We have passed the 1C. baseline Temp Increase !

India, Pakistan, Japan, and the Middle East, Record Breaking, Killing Heat Waves !

The Pacific Ocean is 3 – 8 degrees warmer than Normal, and Flowing in to the Arctic Ocean

Massive Whales, Salmon, Starfish, Sea Lions, Sea Urchins, Dolphins, Crabs, and Bird Die – Offs !

The Jet Stream is acting like a balloon that is loosing air.

The Arctic Ice and Snow may be gone at the end of this Summer or at the end of 2017, A Huge Natural Cooler for the Northern Hemisphere, that is 3 million years old .

The meeting in Paris, should be about Closing the Fossil Fuel Faucet.

“Professor Chris Field is bullshitting the planet. On whether 1.5C is still feasible” Kevin Hester

“The message is already clear, that if the world does want to strive to limit warming to 1.5C or less, we don’t have very much of the carbon budget left.” Professeor Chris Field

“There is no carbon budget any more and 5C is baked in according to both Shell petroleum and the International Energy Authority. ” Kevin Hester

“Chris Field is the founding director of the Carnegie Institution’s department of global ecology and professor for interdisciplinary environmental studies at Stanford University. He is the co-chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) working group two (WGII) and US nominee for the chair of the IPCC.”
With people like this driving the IPCC you can see why we are all done for.” Kevin Hester.

    There is No Carbon Budget

California emitted 459 Toxic Tons of Carbon Dioxide in 2014.

Gov Browns call to reduce this to 1990 levels so we can continue to emit over 400 million Toxic Tons a year, will not help us stop or slow down Global Warming and Sea Levels Rising.

    “Updates to the 2020 Limit.
Calculation of the original 1990 limit approved in 2007 was revised using the scientifically updated IPCC 2007 fourth assessment report (AR4) global warming potentials, to 431 MMTCO2e. Thus the 2020 GHG emissions limit established in response to AB 32 is now slightly higher than the 427 MMTCO2e in the initial Scoping Plan.” Ca. Gov. Data

What will the Temp. be at 415 ppm ?

“Ice sheets contain enormous quantities of frozen water. If the Greenland Ice Sheet melted, scientists estimate that sea level would rise about 6 meters (20 feet). If the Antarctic Ice Sheet melted, sea level would rise by about 60 meters (200 feet).” National Snow and Ice Data Center.

    When will Sea Level Rise to 220 – 300 Feet ? 2020 ? 2025 ? ?

What will the ppm of Carbon be when this happens ?

As of Now, they are talking about capping GHGs at 450 ppm.

What will the Temp. be at 450 ppm ?

We must transition to 100% Renewable Energy

Implement a California Residential and Commercial Feed in Tariff.

California Residential Feed in Tariff would allow homeowners to sell their Renewable Energy to the utility, protecting our communities from, Global Warming, Poison Water, Grid Failures, Natural Disasters, Toxic Natural Gas and Oil Fracking.

A California Commercial FiT in Los Angeles, Palo Alto, an Sacramento Ca. are operating NOW, paying the Business Person 17 cents cents per kilowatt hour.

Sign and Share this petition for a California Residential Feed in Tariff.
